My Filmmaking Showreel 2021 - 2022
Building My Foundation in the UK Film Industry:
After finishing University in 2021, I was fortunate enough to find freelance work almost immediately. Over the following two years, I collaborated with a diverse range of production companies across the United Kingdom. This exposed me to different working styles, production scales, and creative approaches, significantly broadening my industry perspective.
Working across multiple productions, I developed proficiency in various camera systems and gained hands-on experience with everything from intimate documentary shoots to large-scale commercial productions. I learned to adapt quickly to different crew dynamics and production demands, whether supporting a seasoned cinematographer on a high-budget project or taking on additional responsibilities with smaller, more agile teams.
This freelance period was invaluable in teaching me the importance of reliability, flexibility, and maintaining strong professional relationships in an industry built on trust and reputation. Each project presented unique challenges that honed my technical skills while deepening my understanding of the collaborative nature of filmmaking. By the time I departed for New Zealand in 2023, I had built a solid foundation of practical experience and industry connections that served me well in establishing myself internationally.
The breadth of this UK experience - spanning different genres, budgets, and production styles - gave me exceptional professional grounding and prepared me to take on more complex challenges in my career abroad.
